Extreme Makeover: Home Edition- 100 Homes in 5 Years, Countless Lives Touched and Inspired

2008 June 23

I just finished watching ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition’s 100th home episode.  In a time where it’s hard to find something worth watching on TV, this show has morphed into something truly inspirational.  In my opinion is epitomizes the heart and soul of America and what we are capable of as a country.  I have enjoyed watching families who are in desperate situations have their lives completely changed because of the service of an army of volunteers and the over the top generosity of the show itself.

As I watch the show each Sunday night, it reminds me of so many things.  It reminds me of the “over the top” grace  and goodness of God that is exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask or think.  It reminds me of how we can all take the little we have, some more than others, put it all together in a common cause and see incredible results.  It reminds me of missions work where our lives our changed even as God changes the lives of the people we sent to.  Lastly, It reminds me of heaven where all that will matter while on this Earth is whether we truly loved God and loved people.

Keep up the good work Ty.  We hope to see 100 more families lives changed in the next five years.  O yeah, by the way, it may be time for a vacation…that’s almost a house every other week over the last 5 years, right?!  But I guess it’s not really work when you love what you’re doing.

It is an inspirational show and it brought me to tears watching the 100th episode. I agree that it shows the best in America and encourages doing your part in helping others less fortunate than ourselves. I do not see the reason to give credit to God for this though. The goodness shown here is that of our neighbors. They deserve full credit.

Thanks for commenting Mike. If you will read closely you will see that I didn’t necessarily give God credit for the show, but spoke about how the show reminds me of things that have to do with Godliness.

However, in my humble opinion, we could never give God too much credit for the good things we see happening in the world. He is the one who gives us life and breath and without that what would we be able to do?
