Thanks for the update John! I love seeing how God is moving in Thailand (and all around the world). I just moved this weekend and it was the first time in 2 1/2 years for me. I am really feeling for you having done it so many times in the year or so!

I keep pressing on in difficult times because I know God is calling me to bigger things. I know that in following Him, there will be hard times and there will be trials. But I also know His strength will always be sufficient.

I noticed the previous comment from someone in Costa Rica. I will be there again in March! We are going back to the same place I was in June :)

I can certainly empathize with you, John. We've been missionaries here in Costa Rica for just almost two years now. While we have not had to move, paint, set up home again like you have, at 46, I was diagnosed with cancer and underwent major surgery while on the field; my Mom just died a couple of months ago; our oldest daughter got married. The thing that keeps us going is written about in 2 Cor. 4. There's so many verses in this chapter that remind us that it has never been about us; reminding us that what we "see" today is gone tomorrow and that eternity matters most; that He has allowed us to join Him in ministry, not that He needs us; and that because of His grace we should not give up! We will keep you and your family in our prayers and continue to trust with you that He will sustain you as you continue to work expectantly for Him!

Please help. My heart is so broken for a Thai who recently made a profession of faith but he is right now at his grandfathers funneral and has shaved his head.

How is a Christian to respond to this new believer. My heart is so broken for this man.

Thank you so much for the insight from the culture. It helps me to have compassion.

You keep attributing the various practices and beliefs you are describing to ‘Buddhism’ whereas in fact most of them are unique to Thai culture, unknown in other Buddhist lands and not derived from the Buddhist scriptures. Becoming a monk to get your parents into heaven is as much ‘Buddhist’ as making a donation to an oily US televangelist is ‘Christian’.

Sounds like a great adventure. I am anxious to hear how things progressed. Going into unchartered waters knowing the attitude of the Laotian government sounds like the apostles on their initial travels. My prayers will be for your continued courage, audiences of soft hearts and sucess.

"Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body." - Hebrews 13:3

Our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ are most definitely my heroes. :)
